Story Hour (Free snacks!)

It’s hard to do anything well, and science communication is no different. That's why UCI Physical Sciences is starting a new event: Physical Sciences Story Hour.

Think of it as a supportive sci-comm open-mic event where you'll have a few minutes to practice telling the story of your science in whatever way you wish. It could be a poem (haikus encouraged!), it could be a song, it could be a journal entry read aloud, a painting, some kind of group performance…you get the idea. Whatever you do, our one ask is that you tell your science story in a way that aims to get the essential facts behind your work across to an audience.

You can prepare as much or as little as you want, and when you're done, because we're all works in progress, we'll open the floor to friendly feedback from the audience — as well as from our school's Sr. Science Writer, Lucas Joel— on how you might fine-tune your science storytelling.

So, come on down, meet some fellow science storytellers, and learn about the incredible science happening at Physical Sciences!

Spectators welcome. There will be snacks and refreshments.
