ACCESS, OUTREACH & INCLUSION
The Office of Access, Outreach and Inclusion will support the School of Physical Sciences in strengthening its commitment to inclusive excellence in order to foster a sense of shared experience and common purpose across all students, staff, and faculty. We intend to work towards this goal through the development of sustainable programs and training, advocacy for equitable and inclusive policies across the school, responding proactively to barriers of inclusion, and working collaboratively with campus partners and the neighboring community to create pathways to success for all school citizens.
To foster a learning and working environment that recognizes the importance and value of working across lines of difference so that each student, staff, and faculty member has the equitable opportunity to achieve their goals and thrive.
Each department within the School of Physical Sciences is actively working on adapting department specific diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within their unique academic settings. Learn more about their efforts below:
Our goal at the School of Physical Sciences is to create access to our program, outreach for underrepresented communities and represent inclusion within our school. Learn more about some of the ways we are working towards this goal through school-wide DEI initiatives. If you have any questions about any School of Physical Sciences DEI initiatives, please contact the Office of Access, Outreach and Inclusion at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The UCI Black Thriving Initiative recognizes and responds to anti-Blackness as an existential threat to our mission as a public research university.
UCI is a Minority Serving Institution (MSI), designated as an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) and as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).
Creating equitable access to higher education and broadening participation of historically underrepresented groups is central to UCI and the School of Physical Science’s mission.
We are actively working on developing new and current programs that will foster equity, access and inclusion across the school.
