ACCESS, OUTREACH & INCLUSION
The Office of Access, Outreach and Inclusion (AOI) supports the School of Physical Sciences in advancing inclusive excellence and fostering a welcoming environment for all students, staff and faculty. Through sustainable programs, advocacy for equitable policies, and collaborative partnerships, the Office of AOI aims to eliminate barriers and foster an environment that attracts, retains, and supports the successful degree completion of students from historically excluded populations.
VISION
We envision a vibrant learning and working environment within the School of Physical Sciences that embraces diversity and inclusivity across gender identification, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, disability status and other marginalized identities. We value and prioritize collaboration across diverse perspectives to ensure every student, faculty, and staff member has equitable opportunities to achieve their goals and thrive at UC Irvine.
Each department within the School of Physical Sciences is actively working on adapting department specific diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within their unique academic settings. Learn more about their efforts below:
School-Wide Inclusive Excellence Initiatives
Our goal at the School of Physical Sciences is to create access to our program, outreach for underrepresented communities and represent inclusion within our school. Learn more about some of the ways we are working towards this goal through school-wide inclusive excellence initiatives. If you have any questions about any School of Physical Sciences initiative, please contact the Office of Access, Outreach and Inclusion at aoips@uci.edu.
The UCI Black Thriving Initiative recognizes and responds to anti-Blackness as an existential threat to our mission as a public research university.
Creating equitable access to higher education and broadening participation of historically underrepresented groups is central to UCI and the School of Physical Science’s mission.
We are actively working on developing new and current programs that will foster equity, access and inclusion across the school.
