Giving Overview

The School of Physical Sciences is so much more than a robust academic unit. We deliver scientific breakthroughs that reshape our understanding of the physical world and provide solutions to the most profound problems of our age. The school achieves this by asking hard questions; setting inspiring, visionary goals; and driving interdisciplinary research to chart new territory. With flagship projects in the environment, health and the universe, we are advancing humanity through a deeper understanding of the physical science that governs the world.

Just over 50 years old, the UCI School of Physical Sciences has a bright past with incredibly rich accomplishments – from discovering that CFCs deplete the ozone layer to the first detection of the neutrino, all the way to pioneering the use of quantitative investment techniques on wall street. Our future is brilliant and I invite you to join us on our journey of scientific discovery to ask and tackle the most profound questions of our time.

Our alumni, supporters, and friends are at the heart of everything we do as so many of our initiatives would go unfulfilled without your generosity. For that we are immensely grateful and invite you to visit our donor recognition page where we showcase some of our most ardent supporters. If you are interested in investing in the future of Physical Sciences, I invite you to visit our giving priorities and learn more about our strategic direction and how you can help us achieve our ambitious goals.

We are taking on even greater challenges, such as clean energy and climate change, quantum information and the fundamental makeup of the universe. It’s a special time at UCI and I’m excited to be part of it. I hope you will join us.

Sincerely,
