Title: SPOP XX - DATE of SPOP

Attention SPOP X students!

SPOP is almost here, and I will be your Academic Counselor during the morning session. I will have many, many things to go over, so I need you to be as prepared as possible. To prepare, please do all of the following:

1. Review the Anteater Zot Start tutorial: http://www.students.uci.edu/anteaterzotstart/

2. Review all of the UCI systems tutorials found at this website: http://ps.uci.edu/stuaff/content/video-tutorials

3. Bring copies of your AP/IB scores and any transcripts for classes you have taken at a college/university to orientation, unofficial is OK for this. Do this even if you already had the official ones sent to UCI.

4. Complete any Placement Exams you might need. I won’t be able to help you get into some classes if you haven’t taken the proper placement exams. Go to this website (http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu/Placement%20Testing%20Program.html) and use that tool in the middle of the page to help you figure out which test(s) you may need to take. Detailed information about the Calculus and Physics (MAPP) tests is found on this page as well. If you are a Physics major or Math major (that desires to take Physics for your major), then you will likely need to take the Math Assessment for Physics Placement Test (also called the MAPP Test) if you want to take Physics 7C/LC. This is an online test that should be taken 3-5 days before SPOP.

5. Finally, if you have interest in changing your major to something not in the School of Physical Sciences, be sure to listen closely to the morning presentation. They will announce which majors are accepting change of majors. If your desired major is accepting change of majors, you should attend the academic advising session for that major. If you have questions about this, be sure to ask a SPOP Staffer when you arrive.

Title: U.C.I. - Academic Hold/Online Academic Advising

Dear Physical Sciences Student,

You are receiving this email because you are a new student who received an orientation exception to attend SPOP.

An academic hold has been placed on your record by the School of Physical Sciences. This hold will not be removed until you have successfully completed Physical Sciences Online Academic Advising. Online Academic Advising requires that you complete a total of 7 steps which can take around 1-2 weeks to complete. Once you have completed all steps, your hold will be removed and you will be eligible to enroll in fall quarter classes.
