Professor Francois Primeau is interested in the role of the ocean in the Earth's climate. In his lab he develops forward and inverse numerical ocean models to analyze tracer observations and make inferences about the ocean’s ability to store and transport heat and carbon. He joined UC Irvine in 2001 as Assistant Professor of Earth System Science. In 2003 he received a Teaching Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education.
