Professor Huolin Xin becomes fellow of the Microscopy Society of America

The honor recognizes Xin’s contributions to AI-powered transmission microscopy and 3D imaging.

Professor Huolin Xin of the UC Irvine Department of Physics & Astronomy recently became a fellow of the Microscopy Society of America. The honor comes in the wake of a career brimming with discoveries – from developing more efficient and conflict-free lithium-ion batteries to imagining novel ways of getting astronauts home from Mars, should humanity one day travel to that planet. “I am deeply honored to have been elected as a Fellow of the Microscopy Society of America,” said Xin. “It tells me that my dedication to advancing microscopy techniques and knowledge over my career has been impactful. Being elected as an MSA Fellow encourages me to keep innovating with electron microscopy to push scientific boundaries.” What’s more, is that Xin just became the new associate editor for the journal ACS Nano — one of the most prestigious journals in nanoscience. “Serving as an editor for ACS Nano tells me that I have the respect of the top minds in my research areas of energy storage materials and characterizations,” said Xin.
