Public Health Tiers and Spring Quarter

March 16, 2021 - As COVID-19 cases continue to drop and vaccinations increase, Orange County has moved from the most restrictive purple tier into the red tier. This is great news and we are encouraged that these developments will help support the COVID-19 recovery and the gradual reopening of society and UCI. Read more.

Employee virus testing begins

January 4, 2021 - Starting today, UCI is offering voluntary asymptomatic COVID testing for all onsite campus employees.

COVID-19 Testing for Staff, Faculty and Postdocs

CA Guidance for Institutions of Higher Education 

October 5, 2020 - California released updated guidance for institutions of Higher Education. We are currently in “red tier,” but you can track our progress here.

UCI Contact Tracing Program - Executive Directive

September 30, 2020 - UCI has entered into an agreement with the Orange County Health Care Agency to authorize UCI to conduct contact tracing specific to the UCI community. Campus leadership has supported this effort by issuing an executive directive. Read more.

Flu Shots Available on Campus

September, 23, 2020 - UCI employees and their covered dependents who have UCI Health coverage can obtain a flu vaccination at the UCI Health drive-up testing site at Campus Parking Lot 70 located at 4600 Health Science Road, Irvine, at the corner of Bison and California. You may schedule an appointment through MyChart. The hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sunday through Friday.

2020-21 Flu Vaccination Now Mandatory for All UCI Employees

September 21, 2020
To support the health and well-being of UC students, faculty and staff, as well as our local communities, the University of California, in consultation with UC Health leadership, has issued a systemwide executive order requiring all members of the UC community to receive an influenza immunization before Nov. 1, 2020. The UCI campus has a COVID-19 infection protocol described here.  This protocol does not provide guidance relating to the operation of shared spaces of laboratories and offices occupied by research personnel.  The following is the approved procedure to be followed in such instances. Read more.

As stated by Chancellor Gillman in his July 2nd message, the COVID-19 virus has increased its spread within our communities and we must recommit to previously stated safety precautions and be especially vigilant. Staying home when sick, wearing a face covering, adhering to physical distancing and increased hand washing continue to be effective measures to help slow the spread. Read more

Phase 2 Research Assessments and Plans

Please email your Research Assessment and Research Plans to assess your readiness to reopen under Phase 2 of UC Irvine research expansion. Your submission will be reviewed at departmental level, endorsed when meeting departmental standards, and passed to PS Dean’s Office for Authorized approval step. Research may not be expanded above critical research exceptions approvals until Authorized approval is issued in writing. Learn more
