2025 Adventures in Physics
The Adventures in Physics program provides engaging demonstrations of physics for communities in the Orange County area. The program also hosts an annual public event at UCI for the entire community to experience an engaging physics lecture and exciting science demonstrations.
This event honors the legacy of John Rosendahl, Instructional Programs Director in the Department of Physics & Astronomy from 1987 – 2012. He created memorable lecture demonstrations that were seen by more than 50,000 students and conducted physics assemblies for K-12 schools.
12:00 pm - Electricity
Professor Bill Heidbrink and his team will kick off the event with a lively show demonstrating concepts of electricity. Learn about voltage, current and resistance. Watch the jumping ring, the can crusher and other educational activities.
1:00 pm - Dancing Particles and Spooky Action: The Fascinating World of Quantum Science
Join Professor Luis A. Jauregui as we dive into the mysterious world of quantum science and quantum materials, where particles dance in unpredictable ways, objects can be entangled across vast distances, and the rules of reality as we know it are turned upside down.
2:00 pm - Q&A with UC Irvine Students
Following the demonstrations and lecture, UCI students will host a Q&A session about life in college.
