Professor Ellen Druffel studies the marine carbon cycle, how past changes in climate, like El Niño, affect surface circulation, and how dissolved organic carbon is produced and cycles in the deep ocean. She joined the faculty at UC Irvine in 1993 and is one of the founders of the world renowned Department of Earth System Science. In 2013 she was named Fred Kavli Chair and most recently she was honored with the prestigious Roger Revelle  Medal from the American Geophysical Union. She is also member of the American Geophysical Union, The Oceanography Society, the American Association of the Advancement of Science and many others. Group Website
