Professor Law’s research group focuses on making new materials and devices to convert sunlight into electricity and fuel, with the goal of accelerating humanity’s transition away from climate-altering fossil fuel combustion and to a carbon-neutral world.  Prior to his arrival to UC Irvine in 2008, Dr. Law was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden,CO.  He received his Ph.D. in chemistry at UC Berkeley in 2005 and B.A. degrees in Chemistry as well as Government at Wesleyan University.

In 2014, Dr. Law was named among the world’s most influential researchers in the list of Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers. He is an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow and recipient of the Department of Energy Early Career award, the UCI Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research, the Distinguished Assistant Professor Award for Research, and the IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists. Dr. Law was also named ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry Young Investigator in 2005.

When he is not doing research, Dr. Law enjoys spending time with family.
