Professor Zuzanna Siwy Recognized for Advancing Women in Tech at UC Irvine

Professor Zuzanna Siwy of the UC Irvine Department of Physics and Astronomy has been recognized by Women in Tech @ UCI as part of their Applause Program, which is recognizing outstanding UC Irvine faculty and staff as part of Women’s History Month 2025. The award honors her exceptional contributions to fostering an inclusive culture within the university, which aligns with the program's mission to "Advance. Inspire. Empower. Act." Professor Siwy's former role as an Equity Advisor in the School of Physical Sciences was defined by her unwavering support for junior women faculty as she provided mentorship and guidance that significantly shaped several careers. Her leadership was instrumental in UC Irvine’s successful application to the Clare Boothe Luce Program for Women in STEM, which resulted in the recruitment of two esteemed professors: Professor Aomawa Shields (Physics & Astronomy) and Professor Katherine Mackey (Earth System Science).
