Professor Sarah Finkeldei makes American Nuclear Society’s 40 under 40 list

Professor Sarah Finkeldei of the UC Irvine Department of Chemistry is one of the main driving forces behind the burgeoning research and education activity happening at the UC Irvine Nuclear Reactor Facility (UCI NRF). Finkeldei is spearheading new collaborations, including research into cancer treatments of the future, as well as training the next generation of nuclear scientists by creating opportunities at the facility for underrepresented students. Finkeldei is bringing new life to the facility and her field. For her contributions, the American Nuclear Society just named Finkeldei to the inaugural Nuclear News 40 under 40 list. It’s a list of leading professionals that are defining the future of nuclear science. According to the release announcing the list, those selected represent the exceptional talent, vision and drive that’s transforming the nuclear sector.  “I’m very honored to have been selected for this award alongside exceptional colleagues and collaborators,” said Finkeldei. “It’s been a truly inspiring and rewarding journey to contribute to advances in nuclear materials chemistry and simultaneously foster workforce development for the next generation.”
