Better Batteries for a Greener Tomorrow
Huolin Xin, Chancellor's Fellow Professor, Physics & Astronomy
Professor Huolin Xin has an ambitious dream: to help make fully electric airplanes a reality. While that may sound like something out of a science-fiction movie, he believes it’s an achievable goal—and one that could dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of air travel. As a lifelong optimist and a battery scientist, Professor Xin has dedicated his career to building the next generation of powerful, safe, and supply batteries.
In this talk, he will share what it really takes to design advanced materials for batteries capable of powering aircraft, and how discoveries in his research lab move from fundamental science to real-world technologies. He will also discuss how these innovations can strengthen energy security and supply-chain resilience, helping ensure that the materials and technologies behind clean energy are reliable, affordable, and made closer to home.
