One of the RAID controller cards on nfs-1 failed yesterday, taking /data12 through /data16 offline.
Remote power cycling yesterday succeded in also taking /data17 through /data19 offline...
Today, spare capacity from nfs-2 was transferred to nfs-1, and /data12 through /data19 are back.
