For Applied Physics students pursuing the Engineering concentration, per the School of Engineering, below are the approved substitutions for Engineering course prereqs. ***This information could be subject to change.

*EECS 10 can be substituted with Physics 53.

*EngrMAE 10 can be substituted with Physics 53.

*EngrMAE 91 can be substituted with Physics 60 (C- or better).

*Physics 50 is NOT equivalent to EECS 145, but is good enough for EECS 180A prereqs.

*No Physics courses can be used in place of EECS 12.

PROCESS TO REQUEST CLEARANCE FOR ENGINEERING COURSES:

1) We email ALL Applied Physics students on Friday of Week 5 to request clearance for Engineering courses offered in the next quarter by filling out a Scout Form.
2) It is the students' responsibility to list on the form only the Engineering courses that are both offered for that quarter and they meet the prerequisites for.
3) Applied Physics students are given a deadline to fill out the form no later than Monday of Week 7 by noon. If a student does not fill out the form, they are then required to wait for major restrictions to lift if they wish to enroll into Engineering courses.

NOTE: LISTING THE ENGINEERING COURSES ON THE FORM DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE CLEARED TO ENROLL INTO THEM. The information that you provide is sent to the School of Engineering. They will review the request. The School of Engineering is responsible for clearing you to enroll into your courses; our office cannot clear you to enroll into the Engineering courses you request.
