Education:

PhD: Geographical Sciences; PhD Certificate: Ecological Economics.

BS: Earth System & Environmental Science; minor: mathematics

Career Path:

After receiving my undergraduate degree in 2008, I went to University of Maryland to continue my education at the PhD level. After I graduated in 2016, I worked as a postdoc and consultant at various international conservation NGOs, such as the IUCN, Winrock International, and WWF. I conducted science research that looks into optimizing the tradeoffs between ecological and economic benefits, using remote sensing to quantify the land use/land cover change and its policy implications, as well as working with the local communities.

Currently I work at a conservation nonprofit that is more national focus. It gives me the opportunity to work with the indigenous communities with less barrier and see the more direct impact of how science got used in policy making.

Career Experience:
Science Research, International Conservation NGOs, National Conservation NGO, Academia.
Personal Interests:
Conducting research, swimming, hiking, nerding out the X-Files.
Type of Students:
International students, students who want to pursuit a PhD in Earth science and its related field, students who are interested in conservation, students who are
interested in applying science to inform policy making, and students who are interested in working in DC politics (with science).

Ideal Mentoring Relationship:
Students who are self-motivated; intellectually curious; and responsible about following up. It is better to be in conservation or pursuing a higher degree
in science fields. Student not interested in non-profit; since I am more of a scientist who happens to work at NGOs than someone in the nonprofit world
