Driving Directions
The UCI Observatory is located on the outskirts of the UCI campus. Although the Observatory is not marked on the campus map, the entrance to its gravel driveway lies at the north-east corner of the intersection of California Avenue and Gabrielino Drive. There is a "UCI Observatory" sign posted at the driveway.
On Visitor Nights, please use the driving directions listed below for Vistior Nights. Guest should park for $2/hr or a maximum of $10 in the East Campus Parking Structure (ECPS) at the corner of California Avenue and Adobe Circle Road South, located next to the Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) on the UCI campus map (see link shown below) . Free shuttle buses that we provide only on Visitor Nights will transport you from the shuttle stop in front of the ARC/parking structure to the entrance of the UCI Observatory road. Once the shuttle drops you off at the entrance, a five minute walk along the gravel road will take you to the UCI Observatory. Because of the size of the crowd at Visitor Nights, only those cars bringing telescope equipment or handicapped guests can drive down this road on Visitor Nights.
For "informal" visitor nights that we host for meteor showers or for small groups coming to the Observatory for other outreach events, guests can park at the Observatory free of charge. On those nights, please follow the driving instructions listed at the bottom below.
