One of my favorite sites is The Annals of Improbable Research. This Web site includes samples from the print publication, which provides an ironic look at contemporary scientific research -- both by publishing parodies on stiff scientific literature, and by pointing out real research which in one way or another is peculiar.

The annual highlight of AIR is the awarding of the Ig-Nobel prizes (a pun on the Nobel prizes awarded to praiseworthy research, and the word "ignoble.") The Ig-Nobel prizes are awarded at MIT each year, and exemplify the tongue-in-cheek self-mockery of the participants in AIR -- members of the scientific community who refuse to take themselves too seriously.
