UCI Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
August 21, 2017
Physical Sciences Plaza

Solar Observing, Q&A Sessions, & Activities!

On Monday, August 21, the continental United States will experience the "Great American Eclipse". Viewers located in the narrow path of totality will see a total eclipse, during which the Moon will completely block the Sun's light for up to two minutes and forty seconds.  Here in Southern California, we will be able to see a partial eclipse, in which the Moon partly blocks the Sun over a period of about two and a half hours starting at 9:06 am.

UCI's Department of Physics & Astronomy will host a free public event to view the partial eclipse. Join us for activities, telescope use, and Q&A sessions with UCI experts. At UCI the partial eclipse starts 9:06am, peaks at 10:22am, and ends at 11:45am. Eclipse glasses will be available on a first come first served basis.

We ask that you RSVP so we know how many people to expect for the viewing event. Click here to RSVP
