I am a young professional educator, who strive to help students gain conceptual understanding, build a set of solid study skills and procedural fluency, apply their knowledge to the real world, and have fun while learning. I am currently serving as a math teacher at Duarte High School in Duarte. I am teaching and developing the Integrated Math 1 and Integrated Math 2 Common Core curriculum while teaching SAT II Chinese on Saturdays. It is a long story how I got to where I am today and where I shall go from here with a mathematics degree. For the past five years, I have been teaching Chinese as I needed to make ends meet. I enjoyed teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers; however, when it comes to teaching math my heartbeats double. I have also previously served as a mathematics and SAT instructor at American Cambridge Institute (ACI Institute), an institute that aim to educate young individuals to succeed in all areas of life. I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Math Analysis/Pre-Calc, Calculus, SAT 1 Math, and SAT 2 Chinese. If you would like more information on ACI, please take a look at the following website: http://www.aciprep.com/ Furthermore, I had the opportunity to work with community college students who are transitioning from high school to college or coming back to college in the following courses: Statistics (Math 110) and College Algebra (Math 71X) at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. If you are interested in teaching or research or just want to know my story, please feel free to contact me!

Ideal Mentoring Relationship:
I prefer to have in-person meetings, but if you're busy (I understand) and can at least meet remotely, I welcome "G+ hangout" or "skype" online meetings.
I respond fairly quickly via email and text and would like my mentee to be respectful of the timely communication.
During our monthly meetings, I'd like to expose my mentee to local teaching resources (museums, library, science centers, etc.) that are available within LA and Orange County.
I expect my mentee to also take the initiatives in contacting me to let me know of his/her schedule and share with me what is going on in his/her life so that I can best assist him/her. I hope that you'll join me in a year of learning and adventures!
