Solar Energy Collaborative Bridge Grants

The Department of Energy is inviting grant applications for Bridging Research Interactions through Collaborative Development Grants in Energy (BRIDGE), a new program to support the SunShot Initiative by increasing the depth and breadth of expertise applied to photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) technology challenges. BRIDGE will use a two-part linking approach to develop U.S. capability in PV and CSP device and system design: 1) it will support the development of new Collaborative Research Teams (CRTs) of researchers who share coherent scientific goals and diverse but complementary theoretical, computational, and/or experimental approaches; 2) it will encourage CRTs to leverage existing DOE assets and expertise housed within DOE Basic Energy Sciences (BES) Scientific User Facilities, Biological and Environmental Sciences (BER), Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), and Advanced Scientific Computing Research facilities (ASCR).

FUNDS: $9 million will be available for eight to 12 awards of up to $900,000 over three years, with the possibility of 18 additional months.
