2016 Reines Lecture - Steven Chu

Wednesday, March 9, 2016 - 7:00pm

The 2016 Reines Lecture was delivered by Nobel Laureate Steven Chu on March 9, 2016. Dr. Chu is co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics for his research in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light. He served as the 12th United States Secretary of Energy from 2009-2013 and currently he is Professor of Physics and Molecular & Cellular Physiology at Stanford University.

In his talk "Energy, Climate Change and the Transition to a Sustainable World," Nobel Laureate Steven Chu described how recent observations of climate change are effecting the rapidly changing fossil fuel energy landscape. He also shared his thoughts on how energy efficiency and clean energy sources are becoming the low cost option to our energy needs.
